Wale- Album About Nothing/’The White Shoes’ (Official Video)
Wale is back with his fourth studio album aptly titled ‘The Album About Nothing’. Those familiar with Wale knows that he is a huge fan of the ’90’s NBC sitcom Seinfeld which became known as ‘The Show About Nothing’. Before his affiliation with Rick Ross and signing to MMG, Wale released ‘The Mixtape About Nothing’ & ‘More About Nothing’. The two mixtapes paid homage to the show by using snippets from episodes as track openers and interludes. These Mixtapes along with ‘Back To The Feature’ which was entirely produced by 9th Wonder and featured legends like Bun B and burgeoning Hip-Hop artists such as Curren$y and Big Sean further helped grow his fanbase. The D.C. rhymer stuck to the same formula that he used for his ‘About Nothing’ series, but this time he was actually able to get the man himself Jerry Seinfeld in the studio to help contribute to the project. The first single and video off the album ‘White Shoes’ speaks to the sneakerhead community along with society. It explores the mindset of equating one’s self-worth with material possessions and the lengths the havenots will go through in order to have. As explained in his Breakfast Club interview, ‘ The White Shoes’ is a metaphor for all things material that society has a tendency to hold in high regard whether it is a car, jewelry or a crispy pair of kicks. Peep the video and pick up Wale’s latest project out now.
